Working Remotely: How you can make a real difference for your clients – even helping them get ahead
Almost everyone is working remotely (or trying to) in an unknown world. There are simple things you can do right now to make sure you are not only staying afloat, but actually creating opportunities by building stronger relationships and providing the service your clients need during this time. Below are five ways to make sure you are excelling.
1) Video, Video, Video
Engage as many senses as possible! Whether you are utilizing Zoom, Skype, Ring Central, WebEx or any other video conferencing platform, make sure you are sending regular invites to meet through video conferencing. This engages your client and lets you get a better feel for where they are at currently (facial expressions and body language are invaluable). Also, don’t be afraid to spice the meetings up with power point, pdf or other screen share! Jump on and practice, so you know how to use the platform, then be creative and be the resource for your clients. You can also host virtual happy hours, luncheons, breakfast etc. Face to face interaction is the next best thing to actually being there!
2) Be A Solution!
Feedback is how we improve, without it there is no growth opportunities. Many of the platforms listed above have feedback options at the end of the meeting, so ask your clients to give you feedback. If one client is having a problem, most likely others are having the same problem. Be the one to solve it!
3) Stand Out from the Crowd
Think back to the last time you received a handwritten note from someone in the mail. What did you open first that day? Set yourself apart and utilize a tradition and courtesy that most everyone means to do but doesn’t. All it takes is a little planning, time blocking and execution. It is worth it, really? A handwritten card is proven to make a person happier when they receive it. Be the source of happiness in someone’s day. Let’s face it, a handwritten note goes a long way.
4) Cultivate Deep Partnerships
During a time in need, be the one that offers the support. Offer to speak to your clients’ client’s. This can help bring a sense of security and reliability during all of this uncertainty and settle a lot of the uneasiness that they may be feeling right now. This will not only help support your client, it will build the relationship between you and your client and between your client and their clients. This will be remembered long after COVID19.
5) Anticipate Your Clients’ Needs
The world changes every day, be on top of it and offer your ideas regularly. Be the one that assists your clients in what they need. Offer support and offer your knowledge in working virtually. This can be done through an email, newsletter or a quick phone call. At the end of the day, the economy and all societal structures are made up of people. By showing up, bringing our best ideas and resources to our connections, we are creating the new normal. Let’s get after it and re-imagine our future!
